I believe that every person deserves a fundamental right to a quality education.
As a teacher I hope to help cultivate a love for education and a desire to know MORE. When someone stops asking, "Why?" their learning has ended. My job is to embrace the "Why?" and encourage constant inquisition. When children challenge authority, they are learning, and when they are learning, they are growing.
My love for reading and writing did not come easy and for a long time I did not like school; I did not like organized education. As a result, I did not graduate high school on time and took several years after school working before I went to college. I wasn't even sure college was meant for me!
Then, a lightbulb went off: If I wanted to fulfill my dreams, I needed to be smart - I needed to be educated.
I hope to be a flicker of light for my students.
