Class during our 3rd block is a general English Language Arts and Reading course. We will focus on reading strategies to increase comprehension as well as writing strategies to increase demonstration of organization and comprehension.

Fiction is our first unit and goes from 8/27 - 10/05. During this unit we will study vocabulary in context as well as root words, prefixes, and suffixes. We will have daily vocabulary warm-ups alternating with writing warm-ups. We will read a short story by Edgar Allen Poe called A Tell Tale Heart, Geraldo No Last Name by Sandra Cisneros, and Lamb to Slaughter by Roald Dahl. We will have weekly vocabulary quizzes and two exams: One mid-unit and one culminating.
