Class during our 1st block will be structured under the co-teach model. Briefly, co-teaching is where there are two teachers in the classroom so that students with additional needs may receive their accommodations inside the classroom. Fiction is our first unit and goes from 8/27 - 10/05. During this unit we will study vocabulary in context as well as root words, prefixes, and suffixes. We will have daily vocabulary warm-ups alternating with writing warm-ups. We will read a short story by Toni Cade Bambara called Raymond's Run, Thank You Ma'am by Langston Hughes, and No Guitar Blues by Gary Soto. We will have weekly vocabulary quizzes and two exams: One mid-unit and one culminating.
